Plot[edit]

I wrote the entire plot of chump at oxford, slipping wives, the chimp, saps at sea, the music box and why girls love sailors. So I know how much effort it involves. I don't contribute for social reasons, and in fact generally shun that side of wp, so it doesn't matter that nobody noticed that large amount of effort (several hours each). I just wanted to say I'd notice your good work. Szzuk (talk) 10:01, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Szzuk, your note made my day. Only someone who's done it knows how hard it is to pull a comprehensive wp article out of a two-reeler — particularly a silent one — and make it complete without making it feel "stretched." If you haven't seen them, I've also worked on Should Married Men Go Home?, That's My Wife, We Faw Down, and Wrong Again. I'm halfway through The Finishing Touch, but inertia has overcome ambition on that one and I really need to get back to it. Eventually I'd like to do the late silents and whatever talkie shorts need doing. I'd love to get the better ones "B"-rated, but doubt I ever will — I just don't think there's enough meat to hang on the bones.
Thanks for the note, and for noticing my work! — HarringtonSmith (talk) 04:20, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! I also did the plots to county hospital, dirty work, saps at sea and the laurel-hardy murder case, (I used another account for a time). I did much of this a couple of years or more ago. Then my time became more limited and I lost much of my L&H collection in a flood at my home, I did have all 106 films, now just a few. Big Business is my fave silent but mostly I find them interesting more for looking back in time than the comedy. All of the talking shorts are great with my fave Helpmates. My fave feature is chump at oxford and I think the later features see them past there best. I would like to get the main Laurel and Hardy page up to feature. It is B now but there are few refs and it would need a lot of work. Practically every sentence would need to be referenced from a book etc. And I'm not a big reader and have no biographies at all. It would be nice to seem them as the feature on the wiki main page! Szzuk (talk) 21:04, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
