I am not sure that I am comfortable with the way Native Americans are depicted in this post. No kidding they "attacked" York many times. We need to be careful about the way history is told here. The European settlers took over Native American land. Every instance of Native aggression cannot be considered a massacre. We need to be honest about the fact that the settlers ruined the lives of the natives too...72.226.201.192 York born social studies educator

The article states that the town was "named for York, England, site of the defeat of Oliver Cromwell." Of course this is an error since Cromwell, though occasionally unsuccessful in achieving a military objective, was never defeated, in York or anywhere else. It was the parliamentary-royalist struggle to control York that led in 1644 to the Battle of Marston Moor, the biggest battle of the civil wars. It was a decisive victory for parliamentary/Scottish forces and Cromwell played a leading role in the victory. Though I use Wikipedia a lot, I am unfamiliar with the editing procedures. Perhaps someone who is will make the necessary change.67.197.194.12 (talk) 18:42, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
