Notability[edit]

--- added 29jul2010. He does seem to be a bright guy with some good publcations, but NECSI is not a major academic institution. It's more of a private project. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.25.140.214 (talk) 18:33, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This page doesn't seem to conform to the notability standards for academics.

  • Bar-Yam is President of New England Complex Systems Institute. Therefore the "The person has held a major highest-level elected or appointed academic post at an academic institution or major academic society." Removing your tags from the article. de Bivort 20:16, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
NECSI is not a major institution, it is an association created by Bar-Yam himself who appointed himself and then created connections to major institutions based on friendship rather than academic merit. Bar-Yam is the master of opportunism, at creating his 'institute' and publishing on every opportunistic topic almost as soon as tabloids report but with an apparent academic style from very little supporting evidence and their papers make very little impact rather than the buzz (translated in a bunch of citations) they attract from being so opportunistic. Science should not be done in this way. 199.71.233.34 (talk) 05:03, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
