Yale Convention[edit]

For lack of a better place to "drop" this, the Yale Convention has needed an article for a while; I just happened to find a copy of its proceedings, organization and minutes on nosracines.ca:

Minutes of a preliminary meeting of the delegates, elected by the various districts of British Columbia, convened at Yale pursuant to the following call, Yale Convention. This is a highly important even in the evolution of British Columbia from a standalone colony; it was here that the momentum towards Canada was established, and underscored. I haven't read through the whole thing yet; but it does include a list of organizers, who the delegates were etc (and sounds ilke it lists the colonial assembly districts, though this was not mandated by the colonial assembly or governor; it was an ad hoc meeting that self-constituted itself).Skookum1 (talk) 05:18, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yale Coordinates[edit]

image of Chinatown[edit]

This is a c.1885 image of Chinatown in BC Archives; would qualify for PD-50 if transferred to the Commons; this must be just before Chinatown was destroyed, as it was wiped out for the CPR mainline construction; not sure if t his is Front Street, which may be to the left of the buildings at left, as it was the waterfront as its name implies.Skookum1 (talk) 02:37, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yale resident[edit]

Apollos Harrison Gouge was a contractor with a very colorful history in South Australia, and apparently from Yale, but I can find no record of his previous or later life. If anyone can help, maybe worth a new article, there's some info at H. D. Gouge. Herbert Dillon Gouge was by contrast a diligent, worthy citizen; a land valuer and public servant, the colony's first public actuary. Doug butler (talk) 22:28, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
