Fair use rationale for Image:XL Airways logo.png[edit]

Image:XL Airways logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Destinations[edit]

Needs a destinations list. 193.95.165.190 12:50, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Other airlines to the rescue[edit]

Please explain why exactly you don't think it is relevant to list other airlines, or notable pilots, involved in the operation to repatriate stranded XL passengers. The repatriation exercise was given extensive media coverage, is referenced and adds value to the article. I'd like some consensus on this rather than simply have people remove the content. --TimTay (talk) 20:54, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is not notable to XL Airways it is one of many airlines that have returned stranded passengers to the UK, just because they found one aircraft piloted by a rock star to be interviewed on television does not make it notable to XL Airways and this is the XL Airways article. More a measure of the Astreus PR department using their star pilot to get air time. Should we mention all the numerous flights operated by Monarch Airlines and Imperial Hellenic and many others, no dont think so. MilborneOne (talk) 21:03, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like we will have to agree to disagree on this. I do think that more should be written about the repatriation effort, which I understand is being coordinated by Monarch. I also think Wikipedia should do a good job of listing verifiable facts about the topic in question, including related information which may add value and context. Let's see what others have to say. --TimTay (talk) 21:46, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Destinations no longer encyclopaedic?[edit]

The list of destinations is no longer encyclopaedic as no reliable reference can be provided. Given that the airline has ceased operation I would like to suggest that the list is reduced to a paragraph or two describing the major bases of operations and countries served. Comments? --TimTay (talk) 16:46, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is normal to leave the destinations alone when an airline goes under, just because the airline website has dissapeared it was still a valid reference at the time. Perhaps as a general point on defunct airlines it should be brought up at WT:AIRLINE. MilborneOne (talk) 17:22, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fair point. What made be bring this up is that some edits had been made to the list recently, for which there is no suitable verification. I'd be happy to leave the list here if it was locked-down with no further changes. --TimTay (talk) 17:34, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with that cant see any reason why it would need to be changed. MilborneOne (talk) 18:09, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
