USAnian Gen Y revisionist drivel[edit]

By your "Folk etymologies" arguments....... the wheel never existed till someone wrote about it.

The term woot is of British/Scottish origin, preceeding the internet by several decades, widely used by outdoor pursuits extreme sports participants, being a contraction of: "What a Hoot".
