John Turner, Burgh House (talk) 09:44, 1 September 2016 (UTC): The St. Helena Records, particularly related to the East India Company period[1], make many references to soldiers being made to "ride the wooden horse". This punishment is never explained. Can anyone provide any further information?[reply]

Why is this in the medieval category?[edit]

This article is categorised under 'medieval implements of torture', but does not present any evidence of its medieval use.
