The melody is based on Sometimes by Bessie Jones[edit]

I believe that Cocker’s song is not the source for Moby’s Honey but the song Sometimes by Bessie Jones. As SOmetimes is older I reckon that Joe Cocker himself used the melody from Sometimes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mprofitl (talk • contribs) 09:54, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The song Sometimes by Bessie Jones only includes vocals, no instruments; it does not include the melody that is shared between Moby's song and Joe Cocker's. The melody is not exactly the same, anyway; they are isoharmonic but have slightly different rhythms. Listening to Moby's song Honey, I am almost certain that the melody is not a sample, but rather is from Moby's own synths. It's likely he was influenced to write his melody by Cocker's song or any of the several songs in existence already at that time which did sample it, listed by the Wikipedia article at present. But I believe the Wikipedia article at present is incorrect to claim that Moby sampled this song. Cmloegcmluin (talk) 04:17, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
