Number of species[edit]

The article lead says there are 6 species of wobbegong, yet the taxonomic list later indicates 7. Accordingly, I've altered the lead to reflect the number of species listed...if anyone knows of some reason to not do so, please undo and explain. Tom e r ^talk 03:55, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, on second thought/AKA closer examination, I see that Bleecker described the Tasselled Wobbegong in 1867, but that 2 binomials are given for it, differing by genera: Eucrossorhinus dasypogon and Orectolobus dasypogon, the former in its own genus, the latter classified with 4 other species. Orectolobus dasypogon is a valid synonym for Eucrossorhinus dasypogon. I've removed it though, to prevent confusion (leaving the example with its own genus). Yomangani ^talk 08:52, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tone of the article[edit]

I added {{tone}} this morning; sections like the following need some editing to meet quality standards:

"To avoid being bitten, do not harass or encircle a wobbegong when diving, and pay close attention near the bottom to avoid accidental contact with a wobbegong you have not seen."

In this instance, the section is inappropriate because an encyclopedia should not be written from a second-person perspective, but the entire article could use some tweaking. PaladinWhite 13:11, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wobbegong vs. "Carpet Shark"[edit]

This article does not make clear if the Wobbegong is a "subgroup" of carpet sharks, or not. I note this article claims 12 species, with the largest wobbegongs about 3 meters long. Yet the "carpet shark" article claims more species, with the largest being the whale shark. Something is not adding up here.Ryoung122 21:39, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
