Thesis Film[edit]

Willie Brown, Blues Musician, Biography. There is a problem with the date of birth listed on the page. According to the article he was married by 1911. That makes him 11 years old according to the 1900 birthdate. It is much more likely to be ten years earlier. David Evans (Big Road Blues, p. 52) places the date of birth in the 1890 -1895 range. 75.65.196.127 (talk) 22:57, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Crossroads[edit]

Willie Brown is a main character in the 1986 film Crossroads, portrayed by Joe Seneca. While the movie's setting is well past his death, the character appears to be this Willie Brown; (but there is ambiguity relating to the multiplicity of "Willie Browns"). David Evans has Brown born between 1890-1895[edit]

Can't access the source that says 1900, but on p.52 of Evans book he says Brown was born 1890-1895. The information might well be updated to incorporate that sources disagree. I apologize, I don't know how to articulate that elegantly in the info box Wickedjacob (talk) 10:07, 19 June 2021 (UTC) The respected blues researcher Bob Eagle in Blues & Rhythm no.369 May 2022 proposes another Willie Brown as the singer. He traces the draft record of the Willie Brown who reported on the same day as Willie Moore (who was interviewed by Gayle Dean Wardlow). Wardlows article about the interview in Living Blues 228 (February 2014) published the death certificate of this Willie Brown who died in a Veterans hospital in Memphis on March 22nd, 1943. His draft card gave his name as Willie (None) Brown, indicating he had no middle name, and his birth date as February 21st 1897.Labocetta (talk) 17:00, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
