Marriages[edit]

I'm assuming Stokes' first wife Mary was dead at the time of his second marriage (divorce would be unlikely, I think, in this period and context). However I've not been able to locate a source which mentions her death. It looks a bit odd that this article mentions a second marriage without explaining why, how and when the first ended. Can anyone shed any light on a possible DOD and cause of death for Mary? Thanks. ANB (talk) 14:13, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
