Hilarious stuff. Anyone caught using the term "white box" should hang their head in shame.

Hi, is this article made up? For what it's worth, 15+ years software developer here and never heard of the term "white box" once, though black box is definitely a common term in both general tech and software development to refer to something who's inner workings are unknown, the term white box doesn't necessarily mean the opposite of a black box scenario. I think someone needs to look this up as I smell something funny here (found this page while looking up the "black box" page), and if appropriate an authority should remove this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:646:8200:140A:A49B:E306:6F3:3E65 (talk) 09:48, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Glass box" is a much more frequent term for this notion. I added references to research which uses the glass box metaphor, and maybe this page should be moved? Also, related techniques would seem to include "Explainable AI" and similar research fields, but I will not try to edit the template to reflect that StyloGrl (talk) 22:51, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
