Laws of Cardamom[edit]

Are the laws of Cardamom from an official translation? I recall they were being sung in an old Norwegian cassette I used to listen to, and this translation seems like a literal translation not fitting to the melody. I don't know much about music, but the syllables should fit this scheme:

→ It definitely is a literal translation, and I think that is quite important to get the full meaning of the law. I can't think of any other translation which also fits with the melody, but if anyone can come up with that then of course that is better.

Translation[edit]

I wonder why this book is titled "When the Robbers Came to Cardamom Town" in English. The original title Folk og røvere i Kardemomme by shall be translated as "People and robbers in Cardamom Town". Besides this, the Swedish translation of Kardemomme by is Kamomilla stad ("Camomile City/Town") rather than "Kardemumma stad", despite that "Kardemumma stad"/"Kardemumma by" shall be the correct translation of "Kardemomme by". 212.100.101.104 (talk) 13:12, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
