Untitled[edit]

The German singer Michael Holm had a hit with 'Traenen luegen nicht' (Tears don't lie) in 1974. The melody is exactly the same however the text is not a translation from German into English. Can we assume that the song 'When a child is born' was based off this song?

Almost so: both english and Michael Holm's german version are based on the instrumental melody "Soleado" written in 1974 by Zacar (aka Ciro Dammico), who was the leader of the italian group Daniel Sentacruz Ensamble.--Fm974ge 19:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A melody from 15th century? I can not believe. --Gerhard Atze (talk) 08:36, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Misspeling[edit]

The band's name is Daniel Sentacruz Ensemble, not Santecruz. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Srelu (talkcontribs) 00:44, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Much of the information contained here should rather go into Soleado, since many versions cited here are not the Christmas song, but independent versions of "Soleado".--Biologos (talk) 12:06, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
