South Park[edit]

We say it "encompasses all of Seattle west of the Duwamish River": what about South Park, which is not mentioned in the present article? - Jmabel | Talk 05:55, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you add it in? The map included on the page certainly would indicate that south park is within those bounds. --Never mind, I did it for you! :) Beetlecat (talk) 20:03, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently somebody didn't like that South Park was added as a neighborhood in the West Seattle district. Any comment? The small map attached to this article certainly contains South Park. South Park being a neighborhood, and West Seattle being a more general district, it would follow that one could contain the other.--Beetlecat (talk) 02:12, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the problem is with the definition. I've never heard of anybody saying South Park is part of West Seattle. The Duwamish is only the northern part of the east border of West Seattle. For the southern part of the border 1st Ave So or SR-509 makes a better choice than the river, which veers off to the east. But the best definition of West Seattle is that portion of Seattle where the streets and avenues bear the directional attribute SW. IMO. --Haruo (talk) 07:27, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Page title[edit]

Is ", Seattle" really necessary? What's wrong with just West Seattle? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:20, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it seems silly. I'll see if I can move it and if anyone cares. Dicklyon (talk) 14:18, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fairmount Gulch mudslide, 1921[edit]

Hey everyone!

Came across this Seattle Times retrospective article on the multiple 1921 mudslides in Fairmount Gulch : [1]

My husband feels Fairmount is a West Seattle area, I think otherwise, and we have a pint of B&J's on the line. I can't find any article about Fairmount Gulch, but considering Fairmount Elementary, I feel my significant other will win and I can't let that happen.

With the recent mudslides in and around the Seattle area this winter season, as well as that condemened home last year, is this important enough to at least mention?

I'm not from the area, so I leave it in the hands of boots-on-the-ground editors.

Thanks!
