Proposed merge of Kowloon West into West Kowloon[edit]

To distinguish and improve rather than to merge; distinct meaning of West Kowloon; Kowloon West is a larger, less well-defined region, not always synonymous with the electoral boundary (Kowloon West (2021 constituency)). Klbrain (talk) 09:50, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think "Kowloon West" is an overview of various electoral constituencies throughout recent history, while "West Kowloon" is more about a geographic place name. I would say they are not coextensive as "West Kowloon" makes up only a small part of "Kowloon West". Citobun (talk)
It's confusing. The leads start out with:
Kowloon West is the western part of Kowloon, covering the Yau Tsim Mong and Sham Shui Po District, with Kowloon City District occasionally included.
West Kowloon is the western part of Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong, situated within the Yau Tsim Mong District and Sham Shui Po District.
Then the history section of Kowloon West goes on to describe it as a vaguely-defined geographical area. But electoral districts have boundaries, so the whole thing is hard to follow. It might be easier to clarify the differences in one article. If kept separate, then they need to be made less confusing. MB 16:04, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
