was he a nazi?

In the sense of, was he a member of the NSDAP during the war? I would not be surprised if he was, as it was not particularly safe to not be; however, I found no evidence to suggest that this was in fact the case. In the sense of, did he participate in atrocities? Again, I found no evidence to suggest this. Always remember, though, history is at best incomplete; often it is fragmentary, and many important details — even of events as recent as last year — are lost forever.
