Place of birth[edit]

The article has her birth in London, while the summary box at the top right has it in Hong Kong. Can someone fix this? Ozziemaland (talk) 01:10, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the same thing and have tried to find out whether she was born in HK or London. Most sources point to HK and her father had a legal practice there. But not every source agrees and some quote London, whilst some (notably the NY times) avoids this entirely. Of course much of this could be the internet repeating itself.
I can see the 1940 US census with what appears to the her (using her stage name) with England as place of birth. Her mother is listed there as well with Eire as her place of birth which would fit her maiden name. This doesn't strike me a conclusive enough as even if she was born in Hong Kong, it's not inconceivable that she would describe herself as English for the purposes of a census. I just noticed the same discrepancy and tried to look at the source but the Wayback Machine doesn't want to load for some reason. Steelkamp (talk) 16:18, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mother and Jewish background[edit]

Several online sources including her IMDB page claim her mother was a Russian Jew called Sarah Cohen and not as stated. The current mother's name in the article is unsourced. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0057412/bio/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ariehkovler (talkcontribs) 13:48, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not the inspiration for J. M. Barrie's character, Wendy[edit]

The article currently states:

she is believed to have inspired his character "Wendy".

This seems unlikely, since Wendy Barrie was born in 1912, and J. M. Barrie wrote "Peter and Wendy" in 1904, eight years before her birth. Clearly, she cannot have been the inspiration for the fictional character.

Given this strong evidence, I'm removing this (uncited) statement. 86.7.30.217 (talk) 19:21, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The commentator above has misunderstood The article states that "She" adopted the name Wendy perhaps in honour of her God father Not that she inspired the character Wendy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.239.181 (talk) 14:30, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bugsy Siegel[edit]

Why is there no mention of her VERY public liaison with Bugsy Siegel? She began as his mistress and graduated to being engaged. She was happy with this so ...?
