World War II service[edit]

This ref says Butcher entered the military after playing professional football. No reliable sources found as of yet state what branch of service he entered (Army, Navy, Marines, Army Air Forces, Coast Guard), or that he served overseas in a war zone during the war. More specifically, the sources do not establish defining role in World War II. Accordingly, Category:American military personnel of World War II was removed from the article. Semper Fi! Checked the following databases: Fold3 by Ancestry.com, Google Books, Newspapers.com, Newspaperarchive.com. It would be helpful if a researcher can add the branch of service for Butcher based on a reliable source. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 12:25, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
