Assessment[edit]

I'm giving this a "start" assessment. A couple simple things would bring it up to C:

  • A one or two sentence plot summary added to the WP:LEAD section.
  • The Los Angeles cast should not go in the casting table. They should just be listed in the text of the Productions section. Casting tables should only list long-running major-market productions like Broadway and West End, but when there is no major-market production yet, the closest thing would be an Off-Broadway premiere.
  • The Productions section needs to specify who directed and choreographed each production and name any notable (bluelinked) performers.

Some clean-up is needed:

  • Hyphens in the list of songs and elsewhere should be n-dashes
  • All dates in the footnotes should be written out: May 22, 2019, not 5-22-2019

Next steps[edit]

I believe I have fixed all of these issues. What more can I do to improve the page? Apathyash (talk) 21:27, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Good work, except make sure to write out all your dates fully in the refs, and avoid ALL CAPS. I fixed at some of them for you but I may have missed some. You should avoid writing in the refs "Language-English", since this is the English version of WP, where English is the default. One thing that the article still needs is to review the synopsis to see if you can streamline and shorten it a bit. It is probably about 30% too long.
If you want to go further with research on this article, you could have a section that discusses what has been written analyzing the music and text of the show. Are there themes, literary antecedents, etc that are discussed in any of the reviews or articles written about the show? What is the character of the music? rock, pop, older showtune style, or what? What type of ensemble or orchestra is used? Anything you write about these must cite a source where one can see the information. Frankly, though, for a show that never went to Broadway and had a relatively short run, I think this is a an adequately fleshed-out article. Better to put the work into articles on shows that had long and successful runs. -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:05, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Los Angeles cast[edit]

If the Los Angeles production is considered as the show's official premiere according to its listing in the infobox as well as the production literally being listed as "Los Angeles premiere" in the productions section, why shouldn't it be included within the cast table? While it isn't a "major-market" production, it appears to be considered as the show's premiere, and other pages list the premiere casts within the cast table despite not being "major-market" productions (one example is Six with the Edinburgh Fringe cast). Playbill and Broadway World even refer to the Los Angeles production as the "world premiere" in their articles about it.[1][2] I would think that this should be enough for it to be allowed to be listed within the cast table. As you can see above, Ssilvers wrote that "The Los Angeles cast should not go in the casting table. They should just be listed in the text of the Productions section. Casting tables should only list long-running major-market productions like Broadway and West End, but when there is no major-market production yet, the closest thing would be an Off-Broadway premiere." I deferred to their judgement because they have more experience than me and removed the cast from the table. I think you could make an argument to keep it though- for example, the Heathers musical started in LA (after a Joe's pub performance) and they are listed in the cast table on that article. I suggest pinging Ssilvers to discuss further. Apathyash (talk) 16:38, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
