Paul McCartney[edit]

In 1980 Paul McCartney released a single entitled "Waterfalls" containing the lyric, "Don't go chasing waterfalls." Shouldn't there be some mention of this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.100.133.72 (talk) 13:01, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

other than 4 matching words, is it related to this song at all?Kellymoat (talk) 13:25, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

McCartney himself sure thinks it is related: https://music.avclub.com/paul-mccartney-1798211806 --185.52.144.68 (talk) 15:57, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TLC-Waterfalls-65800.jpg[edit]

Image:TLC-Waterfalls-65800.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 06:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recording Date[edit]

I haven't been able to get a verified date, but what I have heard is that, Lisa Lopes was in a halfway house during the period of July to September 1994. This coincides with when sessions were going on, plus two subsequent video shoots for Creep in July and August 1994. Unlike Creep done in December 1993, Waterfalls is one of the last recordings for this album. The last track, is the last song recorded (w/Outkast?) for CSC in September 1994. If sometime could help me or in place of me, find a better source for this, that would be great. Thank you.--Carmaker1 (talk) 00:23, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Music video filming dates[edit]

According to the "Music video" subsection, "Waterfalls" was filmed "from June 8-9, 1995." Is this correct? I briefly looked at the references around that claim and didn't see any specific dates. Yet what made me doubtful is that the video won a bunch of VMAs in 1995, but to be eligible for that year's ceremony, it had to have premiered on MTV by June 15, 1995 (see 1995 MTV Video Music Awards). Thus, they would've had less than a week to have the video ready for its MTV premiere, which feels too rushed.

I looked at some back issues of Billboard magazine, and the June 3, 1995, issue lists "Waterfalls" as a 'new add' on MTV "for [the] week ending May 21, 1995" (p. 69). I believe this means that the video was added to MTV's playlists the following week, but I'm not too sure. That said, it seems to me that the video premiered before June 8, which would make the filming dates in the section inaccurate (unless there was some production delay). Still, I didn't want to erase the dates yet, at least until the actual filming dates (or an explanation of this issue) could be found. Thanks! -- Andresg770 (talk) 20:55, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jason Waterfalls[edit]

The fact that the lyric of "chasing" sounds like "Jason", frankly, does not matter enough for inclusion on the page. Per MOS:POPCULT, just because a trivia exists, does not make it important. Currently, the only mention of the mishearing is referenced to a single sentence representing the opinion of the author, being: "I've got another one, I used to think Jason Waterfalls was the person in the TLC song- go go Jason Waterfalls!" In the grand scheme of factual information about a song and its importance, this incorrect lyric does not mesh with the rest of the article, and I'd suggest removal.
