I have removed the links to each individual player. None of them actually referenced valid entries and I doubt that they will ever be written. In fact, one of them incorrectly linked to William Tuttle who was not born until 7 years after this olympics. I think the team listing is valid however, so I have left the members names in place. Also, why does the title say "Tug of War"? Are these names of water polo players or tug o' war competitors? Robotmannick 03:35, 30 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Results not found on IOC website=[edit]

The IOC results database has no mention of water polo at the 1904 games. What was the source of the original data? Andrwsc 20:57, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I also noticed it. So, what shall we do? This might change a lot of articles greatly --VovanA (talk) 11:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In the Dutch wikipedia this event was already stated as unofficial and all the medal tables were adjusted according to this. Miho NL (talk) 12:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Water polo on the IOC website[edit]

Looks like the IOC website lists water polo as an official game. Perhaps this is a recent change, but it is certainly there now. The coffee machine (talk) 15:22, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Currently the International Swimming Federation (FINA) consider water polo event as part of unofficial program in 1904. Source: HistoFINA – Water polo medalists and statistics (last updated in September 2019)
*1904 – Only USA clubs were present. These results will not appear in statistics (page 5)
All titles – 26, without 1904 – have been won by European teams (page 6)
So we still have to wait and see. --Phikia (talk) 03:07, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
