External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 4 external links on WCFL (AM). Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).

Should be merged to WMVP[edit]

The situation as it is now is causing content duplication, which the project has a standard for (to avoid exactly this situation). See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Radio_Stations#Modifying_article_titles_for_stations_that_change_their_call_signs :

"Move (rename) the article to the current call sign, since the old call sign may subsequently be reassigned to a new station, keeping the old name as a redirect. In addition, all links to the station's old call sign should now point towards the new article name."

There's no question that WMVP is "the same station" as WCFL; it was simply sold to another party and changed its call letters, which is common. In these circumstances, WCFL's portion of history is placed inside the page for WMVP, and the WCFL disambiguation page just points directly to WMVP. When this is done properly according to the project's standards, it is still trivial to find (any) WCFL through the years by going to the disambiguation page and choosing the right one there.

The fame of a station in its 'golden years' and its call sign at that time is irrelevant to what article name it should get, which is always its newest callsign. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WPLJ, which (for example) is not 'WABC-FM'. Skybunny (talk) 22:44, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
