Top Speed[edit]

I have serious doubts regarding the stated top speed of the Volvo T6 and the source. 205mph from 300bhp is hardly credible. 140-170mph might be more accurate. 205mph depending on the aerodynamics would take at least 450bhp. The source does not seem reliable, as they have not roadtested the car. Where did they get the figure from? If the car is really capable of 205mph, then I would love to see proof, as it would mean Volvo have made some major aerodynamic breakthrough. Either way, confirmation of the top speed would be nice.Sennen goroshi (talk) 14:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the Saab 900 have been pushed to 195 mph, 205 mph doesn't sound unreasonable in a considerably lighter car with more horespowers. On the other hand the open wheels would cause a lot drag. // Liftarn (talk)
If a Saab 900 has ever hit 195mph, it would be a highly modified version. BTW weight it not a factor in top speed, weight is a factor in acceleration, for top speed the most important factors are aerodynamics, horsepower and gearing. oh and have you seen this? http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2006/11/01-caresto-v8-speedster/ looks even nicer than the T6. No, only slightly modified it still had reasonable power levels, not like the 700 hp Trollspeed monsters. Anyway, I have found no other sources for the top speed so we could remove that. It may have been a calculation based on gearing and redline. // Liftarn (talk)
Again, no. Because it was a concept, various performance figures have not been released. By the way, I think Volvo was trying to steal some of the 'modern hot rod' glory from the Plymouth Prowler. As it seems the T6 was styled after it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.70.201.254 (talk) 20:43, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes we owe Plymouth Prowler a lot of the inspiration as that car was a new take on hotrods. Also Volvo cars from the past gave inspiration; PV444, Amazon and S80 I. I never rode the T6 Roadster in 300 km/h but Leif definitely built it with a lot of power and low weight. The V8 Speedster is a continuation exploring the modern/timeless hotrod. / Per Gyllenspetz, Designer See my webpage for photos www.yachtandcar.se/cars —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.237.137.183 (talk) 13:32, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
