This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... The Slate article certainly sounds like it could be a piece of native advertising, but it is at least credited to an individual author (with links to works on other topics by the same person). I think we should give it the benefit of the doubt—but a statement to the effect that it was not sponsored by the manufacturer or any reseller would definitely have been in order (unless it was indeed sponsored, of course).

Regardless of that, the cleveland.com (see also http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/12/vitamix_ceo_jodi_berg_made_the.html) and cnbc.com references clearly establish notability, I would say. Also, considering that the company seems to have been around for over 90 years, it would no doubt be possible to dig up additional independent third-party references.OttoG (talk) 11:47, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Vitamix issues (deleted from main article)

Vitamix blenders have presented two significant issues, and they should be kept on the article (like product recalls are also shown on other products pages). This is not meant to discourage people from purchasing the product, but rather informing them on the most significant issues that have been present. This section has been hastily deleted twice after being posted, with no strong reason behind the deletion. So now, the two issues are being presented on the Talk page for your consideration on including them on the article, along with the references where the information is coming from.

In August 2013, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 165,000 Vitamix 64-ounce low-profile blender containers. An additional 4,300 containers are being recalled in Canada. The blade inside these containers can break, creating a laceration hazard to consumers.

In 2014, in a number of web forums, several users reported that if they ran a Vitamix on high with water only, and then poured that water into a white bowl or plate, with some containers, they were able to see tiny black specks floating in the water. It was later determined that the specks were coming from the bearing seal, and that they are made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), or Teflon, which is a DuPont brand name for their PTFE. Vitamix argued that while the black specks do not present any known health risk and are normally unnoticeable, enough customers were displeased with this issue, so Vitamix engineers have now reportedly figured out how to prevent the black specks, and it is expected that the updated design of these containers will be ready later in 2015.
