"Vanuatu citizens" not "Vanuatuan citizens"[edit]

The term "Vanuatuan" is never used, except by foreign reporters unfamiliar with the country. Please consider changing the article title.

People from Vanuatu are referred to as "ni-Vanuatu"; the country's citizens can simply be called "Vanuatu citizens". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.191.129.50 (talk) 20:55, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but this might be an issue wider than this article - Vanuatuan literature, Category:Vanuatuan people, Vanuatuan passport, Vanuatuan records in athletics, Vanuatuan general election, 2008, Vanuatuan general election, 2012, Category:Vanuatuan music, Category:Vanuatuan singers, Category:Vanuatuan women etc. You need to bring this up somewhere more centralized, for example Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names) (or Wikipedia:WikiProject Vanuatu if it's active).--Twofortnights (talk) 21:07, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@203.191.129.50 The Oxford dictionary specifically lists Vanuatuan as a valid adjective for Vanuatu in English. Ni-Vanuatu is a Bislama term for the indigenous Melenesian people, which can roughly be translated as people of our land forver. Not all citizens of Vanuatu are Ni-Vanuatu. Some are Chinese, European and Polynesian and it is more appropriate to call them Vanuatuan. I am a Vanuatuan but not a Ni-Vanuatu. KeshetMIdbar (talk) 01:28, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
