Sup,

Did you do all this? This is very cool.

Supun, didn't do it you can see who started it by looking in the history.

MISCELLANEOUS FORUM The remark "Undeniably Misc Forum is one of the most interesting and entertaining forums to...ahem...' waste time '." is a clear breach of the Wikipedia POV policy - this is an entirely subjective viewpoint.Reiner Torheit 03:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is kpak. Who is working on this page? 1/10/10 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevinism78 (talkcontribs) 02:00, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, kpak. This is Bill McCalpin, who will be making a number of updates to the article over the next couple of days...and I see that Gila has added a tag, too...

Deletion of "Trivia"[edit]

I have re-entered a number o items that were deleted on or about Feb 9, 2010. The rationale for the deletions were that the text deleted was "trivia". I disagree, and this is why:
"User Considerations" (I invite you to find a better term; I'd use it) tells the reader things that the non-member who might be interested in joining a website like VT might want to know, things that either get lost in the legal verbiage or doesn't become obvious until some time on the website.
For example, it is quite important for some people to realize that when they load any content on the website, they are granting "VirtualTourist and its affiliates a nonexclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable, irrevocable and fully sublicensable right to (a) use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, distribute, publish, create derivative works from and publicly display and perform such Submissions throughout the world in any media, now known or hereafter devised"[1]. It is odd to me that anyone would consider the signing away of some legal rights to be "trivia".
The same with the photos - if you're looking for a place to park your high-quality vacation photos to share with your friends, VT isn't it, even though you can share your medium and low res photos using this site.
I agree that there are some citations needed, and I am working on that. Unfortunately, a number of the recognitions listed are in print only (at the moment), and I am searching for better references (the issue and/or date).
Before making wholesale edits to the article, I'd appreciate a heads-up on this (and all my articles) in the discussion page, rather than have to slog through recreating (since reverting wasn't appropriate) my text...thanks...
