Flemish people vs. Germanic people[edit]

Merangs and Lokys dar Vienas, pls note that the use of the term "Germanic peoples" in this article is problematic, because the current definition of Germanic people reads: "The Germanic peoples were historical groups of people that once occupied Central Europe and Scandinavia during antiquity and into the early Middle Ages. Since the 19th century, they have traditionally been defined by the use of ancient and early medieval Germanic languages and are thus equated at least approximately with Germanic-speaking peoples." So, you could say that the Vilamovians are Germanic-speaking peoples and that they are descended from the Flemish people, however to say that they are Germanic people would imply or suggest that they are one of the Germanic tribes form the antiquity. Thanks as well. My confusion comes from the conflation of the terms "Germanic languages" and "Germanic peoples", which, as you explained, are not parallel, of which I was not aware. Lokys dar Vienas (talk) 00:14, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
