The result of the proposal was

  • Support per nomination and if "Vietnamese Czechs" is derived from other similar Americanisms, it implies that the persons in question are citizens of Czechia which is not usually the case. — AjaxSmack 06:34, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose in Czech cultural area, we distinguish between citizenship (Czech Republic; or what is written on your passport front page) and nationality (Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Roma, etc. - it is usually connected with your mother tongue or parents). In the past, approximately before WWII, the designation Czecho-Americans or American Czechs was sometimes used for Czech emigrants to the USA (they came here, of course, as an Austria-Hungary Empire citizens). Conclusion - do not try to introduce americanisms (american kind of thinking) by force, it seems ridiculous. Moreover, "Vietnamese Czechs" is formally incorrect, the sense has "Czech Vietnamese". But again, nor Czech, nor Vietnamese will use it.

  • Oppose - it would cover those Czechs (citizens) with Vietnamese routs who emigrate to other countries, however as said above, vast majority of those living in the Czech Republic don't have the citizenship and could hardly be described as Czech in any way. Racism[edit]

  • my 2 cents to remove the whole paragraph. It's racist, it's not respectful and there is no such paragraph in the whole wikipedia (turks in germany, rumenians in italy, polish in france don't speak about criminality), but I see this page repeating for the Czech republic in many cases: illegal mongolian immigrants in the czech republic, nasty slovaks and rumenian in the czech republic.   • -1 on removing well sourced material. I see no racial accusations there. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and these are the country's official statistics. The fact that other countries do not collect such statistics, or are not allowed to publish them, has no bearing here.
So I just removed the whole paragraph in line with the arguments given by the first unsigned comment and in line with the comment by Amurdad. As concerns the *-1* above, the section leads with a nonsequitur like “Vietnamese lead the statistics of crimes committed by foreigners, being second only to Slovaks”. For the hard of understanding: they do not “lead” the statistics, the Czechs do, followed by Slovaks, and thirded by the third largest minority (Keine Scheiße, Herr Sherlock!). So Mr “I see nothing here”, why not mention that the vast majority of crime in the Czech Republic is committed by Czechs, since that is the official statistics say anyway? The paragraph in question is worse than racism, it is utter idiocy, it is factually wrong (see above) and it does not add anything of value to the article, so I am deleting it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.228.59.79 (talk) 12:38, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please refrain from removing well sourced content from Wikipedia. As to your objections:

According to last census, there were 4 times as many Slovaks in the country than Vietnamese. The sentence is appropriate. The numerical difference might be added to the text for better clarity.
why not mention that the vast majority of crime in the Czech Republic is committed by Czechs
It's not question of absolute numbers, but of crime rate and overrepresentation
it does not add anything of value to the article, so I am deleting it.
As mentioned and sourced in the given part, drug crime has important negative impact on the general Czech drug policy and on international relations, especially with Germany. As mentioned and sourced in the article, Vietnamese gangs control much of the drug crime.

Incongruences[edit]

the citation number 8 has nothing to do with the statements in the "history" paragraph and the history itself is only a theory and there is no evidence. It's suspected to be true that workers were considered labor force, used to pay the weapons given to the vietcong. --Amurdad (talk) 09:44, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

there is also a non-sense connection between the consumption of heroine and the fact that Czech can grow cannabis legally. Hence drugs are exported to Germany, France and Italy. That's too bad and it tends to demonstrate that Czech are the good guys that never use heroine, in no case (because they have marjuana?). Only bad Germans and Italians will use it. Marijuna vs Heroine[edit]

First of all, Italy was mentioned, but in Italy marijuana is decriminalized as in Czech Republic. Hence the statement is wrong. Furthermore, the fact that marijuana is posed as an alternative or deterrent to heroine is a (bizarre?) theory. They aren't the same things. Here (in the Netherlands) is possible to buy weed freely, but heroine is used as well. However I am not here to argue, I am here to say that this is a very personal and respectable opinion, which does not have scientific basis. I therefore amended the small part regarding this topic. Please understand that this pages should not be used to show opinions and as a means for political propaganda. Conflicting numbers[edit]

The articles claims the numbers are 83,000 according to the 2011 census. However, the table (source 6) shows around 50,000 people from 2014 to 2016. --91.142.213.109 (talk) 07:23, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
