Recaño's father "Hispanic" Filipino[edit]

Can anybody cite a source? Filipinos aren't Hispanics, that is, they don't speak Spanish as a native language. Maybe her father (or his family) immigrated to the Philippines perhaps.--Wambeter 03:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a reasonable concern that the information isn't true, I'm fine on removing it from the article unless we have a more solid source. There does seem to be a certain amount of spin on her website -- for example, anything that might give a clue as to her exact age, seems to have been removed. ;) --El on ka 04:17, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, her exact description, was to say that her father is "Filipino and Spanish". I'm not sure where the "Hispanic" wording crept in over the last few months. --El on ka 04:25, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind leaving it as is, but while reading the Latina Style article, they mention that the father has "Latin roots". It's kind of like that they are grasping at straws to accentuate her Latin pedigree. On the magazine's website, it's tagline is "National Magazine for the Contemporary Hispanic Woman". So I guess her being on the website and magazine, I guess Veronica does associate herself with being Hispanic. It's just that Hispanic Filipinos are a very rare minority, and there is alot of pedigree forgery among the Filipino American community. A good article to read here on Wikipedia is the Colonial mentality article, as the IMSCF Syndrome article has been deleted.--Wambeter 05:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Virtually all Filipino's have Spanish ancestry and Spanish family names. Saying "of Filipino and Spanish" lineage is redundant and unnecessary, though it's a common mistake. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Only about 3.6% of Filipinos have ANY Caucasian (Spanish, American, Italian, etc.) ancestry according to a study done by Stanford University. Most Filipinos have Spanish surnames due to the Catálogo alfabético de apellidos, not because they were inherited from Spanish ancestors.--Wambeter (talk) 10:04, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Emmy awards[edit]

I'd like to see if we can get more details on the "two Emmy awards" which Recano won. There are extensive lists of these awards, so it shouldn't be too difficult. My guess is that it was one of the Daytime Emmy Awards, and that she won it as a part of a team on "Disney Afternoon" or one of the related sub-groups.
