Copying of text back to this page - the original home[edit]

Given there is no disambiguation (see below) over the term "Victoria Medal of Honour", I have copied the text back to this page. Unfortunately, I cannot "move" it to this page, because this page was the original page and was moved to the page from which I am copying back the text. Therefore for history of the page between 8 May 2006 and 3 October 2008, please refer to Victoria Medal (horticulture). If I have missed something that would do this in a more technically efficient manner then I apologise and would ask that my mistake is amended.Kwib (talk) 21:59, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Previous Disambiguation[edit]

Previously this page was set up as a disambiguation page because it was noted that the Victoria Medal of Honour may refer to two different medals:

However, the Royal Humane Society, although they have a number of medals, have no such Victoria Medal. As to why any confusion on this arose I can only provide conjecture, based on a research, that some publications have taken citations of awards of the Victoria Medal of Honour by the RHS, and expanded the acronym to Royal Humane Society in error, as opposed to the correct Royal Horticultural Society. Certainly, Lord Blakenham has been quoted as having been awarded the Victoria Medal of the Royal Humane Society, when in fact he was awarded it by the Royal Horticultural Society (he was the latter's Treasurer).

Given there is no disambiguation over "Victoria Medal of Honour", I have copied the text back to this page. Unfortunately, I cannot "move" it to this page, because this page already exists. Therefore for history of the page between 8 May 2006 and 3 October 2008, please refer to Victoria Medal (horticulture).Kwib (talk) 21:59, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

external links not working[edit]

Some important external links on this page do not work properly. I.e. the only external link, and the link mentioned in footnote 1. - Dick Bos (talk) 03:16, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FN 1 is working today (19 Jan 2009). I cited the External link to the last WebArchive version, that of 29 Sept. 2007. --Bejnar (talk) 08:42, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

G. H. Johnstone[edit]

Patrick Synge in The Gardens of Britain; 1, 1977, p. 143 says under Trewithen: "Garden made by the late Mr G. H. Johnstone, OBE, VMH".--Johnsoniensis (talk) 16:53, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
