I am always keen to get in touch with other people who enjoy Victor Canning's work. Not everything he wrote was good, but his best work is really excellent.

Article needs work[edit]

I fixed up as much as I could from the existing text. One major thing I cleaned up was the titles of the books. Not only were none of the titles italicized, as all book titles should be, they were all improperly capitalized. This looks like a mistake carried over from the linked John Higgins' site, where the list was probably copied from. Mr. Finchley Discovers his England should not be spelled capitalized Mr. Finchley discovers his England unless the UK has some capping rules we don't follow here in the US (I don't think they do). Also most of the article abbreviations (Mr., Mrs., etc.) were missing the necessary '.' after them. I assumed all the titles listed were novels and not short stories. I just want to point all this out so it doesn't look like I mangled the article. I did my best to bring it up to Wikipedia standards.

Lastly, although the article does cite some sources, they are only vaguely referred to and cannot easily be verified. First, they have to be completely cited (magazine issue number, pages, article name) and should be <ref>'ed so it's easy to see which facts came from which sources. Dr vs DR.[edit]

Assuming this article is using BrE, 'Dr.', 'Mrs.', etc. should more properly be written without the following full stop. The WP article on 'Doctor' says: 'Doctor is abbreviated "Dr" in British English and "Dr." in North American English.' The University of Oxford Style Guide agrees.
