i would like to know more about VSAT

Technology section added[edit]

I added a Technology section that describes the underlying technology in much more detail. There is much confusion as to the implementation of the return path (or uplink) that I have tried to address in this section. --KJRehberg 19:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Updated maritime[edit]

I dont quiet understand why someone had linked the VSAT maritime part to BGAN and Inmarsat concidering they are L band based. I changed it to Vizada (Former telenor, page needed?) and Eutelsat. (Fredde87 (talk) 19:46, 22 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

what's a relation between BGAN and VSAT? I didn't get it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.50.231.103 (talk) 17:52, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

C-band?[edit]

Well, in the beginning of the usage section, it states that VSATs were operating at C-band or 2 GHz. C-band is actually 4-8 GHz,and not 2 GHz. Please make sure you correct the mistake, to those who wrote articles based on the information its time to go back and amend it for correctness Lenamile C Pogiso (talk) 10:45, 27 November 2013) good —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.131.117.90 (talk) 06:36, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BGAN vs VSAT[edit]

BGAN is typically more of a mobile satellite deployment. It offers more flexibility because it does not have to be pointed so precisely at the satellite, it can have a 15 degree variance and still work quite well. It does not offer the same amount of speed as VSAT but is a fast growing market because it can easily be transported and uses low amounts of power and in some cased can even fit inside a back pack.

VSAT is able to handle a much larger through put however must be point precisely at the satellite.

BGAN is like a flash light been which can cover a fairly large area, it works but it's not very concentrated. VSAT is like a spot light or laser beam. It's very focused, and it you miss your target you have a little you missed it completely.
