SI vs. Binary prefixes in file system sizes[edit]

The references to "terabytes" & "exabytes" should probably be changed to "tebibytes" & "exbibytes". File system size limits are generally binary not decimal numbers. Claims on the first journaling filesystem[edit]

The article states that it's the first commercial journal filesystem. There's a link at the bottom of the page for comparisons, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems and that page clearly states that JFS1, from IBM, was the first. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.74 (talk) 21:21, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the link (and unsurprisingly, much of the comparison page simply goes to unsourced notes). I looked for comparisons of initial release dates online, but was unable to find a reliable source for dates earlier than in this article. If you have a reliable cite, you should add it Tedickey (talk) 21:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I don't have a cite, but we had JFS in the lab 1987 or 1988, and it shipped in 1990 as part of AIXv3 I do remember the guys talking nervously about Veritas, they seemed not to like something. linas (talk) 20:49, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AIX - http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg246619.html - VERITAS Software products, such as VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) and VERITAS File System (VxFS), are popular on other UNIX platforms, and VERITAS announced these products for AIX in the early of May 2002.

Linux and Solaris - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/08/02/veritas_lw_releases/ - Most notably, Veritas has now brought its Storage Foundation 4.0 product to Red Hat Linux. This software, released on Solaris way back in February, combines the Veritas File System and Volume Manager into a single product.

Unixware - http://uw713doc.sco.com/en/FS_admin/VeritasC.ReadFS.html - The "basic" VxFS filesystem product is included on all UnixWare 7 systems. HughesJohn (talk) 15:55, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sinix (aka Reliant): http://serviceportal.fujitsu-siemens.com/i/en/support/technics/fgm/unix/rnc0385_en.htm - The Veritas File System VxFS is included in the delivery unit SINIX-N 5.42, but is not pre-installed on systems supplied.
