Fair use rationale for Image:Benjamin Chaires House.jpg[edit]

Image:Benjamin Chaires House.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

What is the correct name?[edit]

Vendura or Verdura? Where is a source for the name. The cited online sources do not mention any plantation by name. The book From Cotton To Quail is cited only for the relationship of three brothers in the Chaires family. -- Donald Albury 03:32, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

This article is in atrocious shape. The only secondary, reliable source used is the book by Clifton Paisley (From Cotton to Quail), and as I noted nine years ago, it is used only for the relationship of the three Chaires brothers. The other sources currently cited in the article are self-published sources. Find a grave and Ancestry.com are deprecated at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, and Rootsweb is owned by Ancestry.com. I am tempted to send this to AfD, but the Paisley book might have some more usable information, so I will wait a little while. Donald Albury 21:47, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Some potential sources:

It looks like enough there to work with. Maybe I'll start on this after I finish up another article I'm working on. - Donald Albury 22:27, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And, wonder of wonders, From Cotton to Quail is in the public library (as a reference book), so I do have access to it. Eventually. - Donald Albury 22:44, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
