Tor Dyke[edit]

Who built Tor Dyke? The photo captions says it was Venutius but the https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1012003 listing makes no mention of him. I have seen one claim that it was built in 1410 by Ralph, Earl of Westmoreland. The source (which I don't have) is 'Whittaker’s History of Craven'. See https://yorkshirecdbooks.com/Yorksview/Places/greatWhernside/index.html In the absence of a reliable source for the photo's caption claim I intend to remove the image. I think the source for the claim that Venutius built Tor Dyke might be from a walkers guide written by Mike Harding.
