The Encyclopedia of Monsters[edit]

Would anyone be too terribly upset if I removed the reference to Jeff Rovin in this article stub? I am a grad student studying Etruscan archaeology (and in particular the underworld) and find no relevant information added by the reference to the Encyclopedia of Monsters. In no academic source is Vanth mentioned as encouraging people to be violent or to be attracted to open graves and tombs. Sigh... Hopefully if I find the time I'll come up with a longer entry to this important deity...--Kattie90 18:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is precisely what I tried to do long ago, Kattie. ScottAndrewHutchins, a previous editor, was so obsessive that he simply wouldn't accept your (and my) point of view. He also couldn't understand my previous comment that Jeff Rovin was a "children's author" and that the cartooney pictures on the cover of "Encyclopedia of Monsters" were his first clue.

So at the time, to appease the loons, I set up a seperate section of trash authors which you rightly label "irrelevant". Indeed, it is, but tell that to ScottAndrewHutchins who wouldn't leave the issue alone and even followed me to the French Wikipedia to harrass me there and insist on Jeff Rovin as a valid author. Admins are useless.

Perhaps he's finally flown away now and the Vanth article can be set back to sanity again, but from my previous hell with trolls like this who strive to test the limits of people's "blind faith", I will not edit this article, or any article, ever again because it's a waste of time. I'll leave it up to the pecking hens in this coop while I use my time more wisely (studying at a library which you and everyone else on Wikipedia should be doing). Of course, I'll make occasional comments to guide puppies with green behind their ears from time to time, not for the sake of Wikipedia's success (please!) or the questionable sorts that depend solely on Wikipedia, but for the sake of intelligent netizens who google and datamine to expand their knowledge. Inhaling demons[edit]

Whoa. Where on earth is it claimed that Vanth "inhales demons"?? There's too much crap circulating about Etruscan mythology for me to take this seriously without solid evidence to back it up. --Glengordon01 11:10, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I tracked the history of this claim to Firefly07:

"adn inhaled good demons. In later times she represented Justice."

Well, the "inhaled good demons" is back and god forbid I erase the nonsense, even when it is completely unsourced. Apparently as per the Charun page, nobody likes me erasing nonsense. So be it. I hope Scott Andrew Hutchins, the one who edited this phrase back in, can find a valid source within the next twenty years. I'm not sure how long we're going to have to wait before we can simply erase this stuff.

Given the state of Etruscanology, I'm pretty sure you could even find books proving that Etruscans are from Mars and had eight legs. So what is the value of these books when actual Etruscan artifacts show otherwise? For example, I just changed Tuchulcha which stated that it was a "demoness"... It's repeated by numerous websites but the artifacts show a bearded figure. It's patently insane what rot exists out there on Etruscan religion, even published rot. So this is why I'm concerned that WP's "belief system" doesn't quite apply here without ending up misinforming everyone on the subject and propogating silly memes. --Glengordon01 20:18, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christianity?[edit]

I've seen a few references to a Christian angel named Vanth. Do I have the name wrong, or is there another Vanth? It could've been Hebrew, now that I think of it, but unlikely. I'm probably off my rocker... Sir Chickie 00:43, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
