Luminosity[edit]

The reference said that the averaged luminosity of V4998 Sagittarii was approximately similar to the Pistol star, then gave Mbol magnitudes of 10^6.6 for V4998 Sagittarii, then Mbol magnitudes of 10^6.5 for the Pistol star. This derives a luminosity of 4,000,000 L for V4998 Sagittarii and 3.9x10^6 for the Pistol star yet on the Pistol star page it has a reliable reference stating that the Pistol star's luminosity is 1.6x10^6 L. The reference also says that the luminosities of V4998 Sagittarii and the Pistol star are more or less, the same. Also, on the Quintuplet cluster page, there is a reference that says V4998 Sagittarii's luminosity is 1.6 million L. So is the luminosity of V4998 Sagittarii 4,000,000 L?

Different papers, different methods, different results. The paper referenced in this article specifically discusses the differences to the paper referenced used in the Pistol Star article, and nothing I can say will usefully add to that. Lithopsian (talk) 14:00, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mass[edit]

Article says "The star has a large mass comparable to the Pistol star" but then doesn't say anywhere what that is! Please add. Fig (talk) 18:56, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
