Introduction text[edit]

The text in the introduction of this article appears to be quite similar to the entry in Encyclopædia Britannica. I wonder whether or not this would constitute an infringement of copyright. For the moment I only added a reference to Encyclopædia Britannica, but the intro might have to be re-written . Please comment. Arjuno 08:27, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the pick-up. Whether or not it is similar or lengthy enough to constitute copyvio, it's not a good look to have imitative passages. I would recommend rewrite, and obtaining viable sources from elsewhere than EB in any case. IMO one generalist encyclopaedia citing another is not really appropriate, better to cut out the middleman and go direct to the authorative sources. --cjllw ʘ TALK 02:07, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
