Can oxides also be reduced?[edit]

The article claims that the common route to the metal is reduction of halides. However, uranium will be much more likely to be found as some sort of oxide (whether in pitchblende or in spent nuclear fuel) than as a halide, except, of course, when starting from uranium hexafluoride. So I think the question of how - if at all - the native metal can be obtained starting from the oxide(s) is of some importance and should be added to this article, shouldn't it?
