I doubt this is really a high priority, but I just noticed the 4th citation, http://chronicle.com/jobs/profiles/1616.htm, is not working properly. I am not sure how to mark that a citation is needed or I would have just done that. Leetasmeat (talk) 18:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

A new survey has been created to resolve whether or not the University System of Maryland campus in College Park should be refered to simply as "University of Maryland". Just realized the error of my earlier request. I found a page on the UMUC site that still lists the Adelphi location as its headquarters, rather than its new Largo facilities. The Adelphi location is noted as the UMUC headquarters at this link. At present, the Largo facility appears to be listed is an educational facilities, in spite of UMUC moving most of its offices there. Therefore, I will undo the requested edit at this time and restore the previous coordinates and headquarters location until UMUC notes on its website changes in the designation of the Adelphi and/or Largo facilities. This article needs some real help.....It is based of the schools web site. I reall do not belive it is even close to being one of the largest distance education providers. See below section, UMUC and the University of Maryland are different universities. In the case of your link, the point is AACSB is not a recognized accrediting agency in Europe? I can't argue with that. JamaUtil (talk) 03:49, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Sentence

Removing POV sentence that refers to confusion to UMD MBA program in the Academic and degree programs section. Since the article already includes clear statements referring to UMUC as a separate school with the USM System (that is, "UMUC is a member of the University System of Maryland, which includes eleven separate public universities in Maryland," "In 1970, UMUC became an independent institution, and it became a member of the University System of Maryland in 1988," and "Therefore, UMUC is not a division of the University of Maryland, College Park, but rather a separate institution within the University System of Maryland," readers will clearly note and understand that the Executive MBA program refers to a educational program offered by UMUC, not by UMD. →Lwalt ♦ talk 13:39, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Name changing to "University of Maryland University College Institution of Higher Education Academy School of Learning".

Today the school announced that it is again changing its name, this time to "University of Maryland University College Institution of Higher Education Academy School of Learning". Yes, this is an April Fools joke. bd2412 T 19:02, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Change in the UMUC to UMGC

Governor Larry Hogan has recently signed legislation to authorize a name change from UMUC (University of Maryland University College) to University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) to better reflect the mission of the university. See the notice at https://www.umuc.edu/about/university-of-maryland-global-campus/index.cfm. Although UMUC (later to become UMGC) will remain a member of the University of Maryland System, this article will require updates to reflect the change in UMUC's status, since the name change to UMGC, among others, have started and will continue into 2020. →Lwalt ♦ talk 13:58, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

UMUC Changes Name

Hello,

As of July 1, 2019, the "University of Maryland University College" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Maryland_University_College) changed its name to University of Maryland Global Campus (Source: https://globalmedia.umuc.edu/2019/07/01/umuc-is-now-university-of-maryland-global-campus/). Should we create a new article with the new name? If so, should we also transfer all information from the original article into the new article? Finally, how do we redirect to the new article?

@Rtludwig: Firstly, please can you confirm whether you work for UMGC as this is required under Wikimedia's terms of service. I have posted a welcome message on your talk page with links to Wikipediua's paid editing and conflict of interest policies. UMUC has changed its name rather than merging or being taken over, the article should be moved rather than recreated. Moving the article will leave a redirect from UMUC to UMGC. I am happy to help with this. The article University of Maryland University College people, Template:University_of_Maryland_University_College, Category:University of Maryland University College and its subcategories will also need to be updated. Yes, I am the assistant vice president for media relations at University of Maryland Global Campus, and it is correct that we did not merge or were taken over by another university.
