Titles[edit]

The titles of most of the sections are just too lengthy. The titles need to get to the point of the section in a brief manner. I propose that they are all revised into smaller titles. (Cristiano Tomás (talk) 23:44, 2 January 2012 (UTC))[reply]

  • this united kingdom not was a colonial empire of portugal against brazil..brazil was part of portugal in the pre-independence..brazil = only european possesion in the world to "sediar" the colonial "metropolis".. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.51.178.76 (talk) 05:17, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help in List of largest empires page[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_empires

In this wikipedia page it looks like there is a small "society" of people who their goal is to make people believe there was no such thing as the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves, claiming the portuguese empire was smaller than Brazil empire itself. Which is crazy.

Have you read the footnote that is provided in the article? The reason the Empire of Brazil had a larger area in 1889 than the Portuguese Empire had in 1820 is that at the time of Brazilian independence in 1822, the Portuguese settlers had effective control over approximately half of Brazil. Except that's not true at all. At the end of the 17th century, the bandeirantes expeditions discovered gold in central Brazil, in the region of Minas Gerais, which started a gold rush that led to a dramatic urban development of inland Brazil during the 18th century. Additionally, inland expeditions led to westward expansion of the frontiers of colonial Brazil, beyond the limits established by the Treaty of Tordesillas.
