Terminology[edit]

The official term is коренные, малочисленные народы Севера, Сибири и Дальнего Востока Российской Федерации, which translates as Indigenous, small-numbered peoples of the North, Sibera and the Far East, so: indigenous first, small-numbered second. The term "extreme" (крайний) is not part of the term, even though of course it is part of how Russian legislation defines the КМНС. --

Indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East → Unified List of Indigenous Minority Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East of Russia – Better satisfy WP:CRITERIA of recognizability and precision (nos. 1 and 3 in the WP:CRITERIAORDER).

  1. Identify the subject as an official designation of the Russian Federation.
  2. Translate the actual title of the designating list in title case.
  3. Less clunky translation, ans it appears in academic literature.
