Name changes[edit]
In my opinion, a previous editor has erroneously changed the names of the winners from the correct versions (in the English language) to versions that are more in keeping with his own language. By hovering over a name with the mouse, it is possible to see the English name. This may have been done without discussion. If other editors support my view, then I would recommend that the changes are reverted. Please be aware that there may have been other changes since and so care may need to be taken not to lose anything important. Brittle heaven (talk) 12:50, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Transliterations are tricky, but this is the English language Wikipedia and we should use the spelling commonly used in English if it can be determined. Quale (talk) 02:39, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

If name is not English - than it must be spelled like it is in language of its speakers. Even more! In this article was used Russian spelling of Ukrainian names with English literation! Looooooooool! I think it will be correct to hide those Russian variants that appear by hovering over a name with the mouse. (What a shame!) Just one example: Russians spell Hennady (Hennady Kuzmin - even this is not correct, must be Henadiy) like Gennady because they have no letter that corresponds to the "H" sound!Shuhister —Preceding undated comment added 11:18, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

- Hm... noted. Sorry for that, but proposition of spelling Ukrainian names with Russian pronunciation offends me too. Shuhister
- I'm very sympathetic to the concerns of nationalism subverting other cultures, but WP:ENGLISH is the applicable guideline. See also WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. It is simply not true that names must be spelled like they are in the language of the speakers. The common example is Wien. Instead the English Wikipedia uses Vienna as this is the name that English readers expect. Quale (talk) 22:17, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
