Other Tanner[edit]

Around 1990, another US navy ship was designated USS Tanner. This was a ship fitted with a sonar dome for undersea survey. The entire class of ships that the Tanner belonged to was a complete failure, and this Tanner was retrofitted to become the T/S State of Maine
