Steven Short[edit]

Is the Steven Short linked the correct one? The link goes to a retired ice hockey player? Thanks Red Jay (talk) 16:31, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good question, seems unlikely and I can't find a good source saying they're the same person. I'll disambiguate it. Jay eyem (talk) 21:21, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Article Name[edit]

Wouldn't this article be better titled D3 - United Soccer League - as that is the name used by United Soccer Leagues in describing the league - this name seems more like a placeholder than the actual name.

I reverted your page move because it is less appropriate then the previous name. USL consistently refers to the league as "USL Division III" on it's own website and external sources tend to use that as well or USL D3 as a short form. BLAIXX 20:35, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tormenta FC - Both PDL & USL D3 Teams[edit]

As South Georgia Tormenta FC has recently announced a new head coach for their PDL-side for the 2019 season, it appears the team will have both a USL D3 & a PDL squad. Currently, it is marked on the timeline that they are moving up from PDL to USL D3. Would that still be correct or should we remove their PDL reference from the timeline? @NorthOnt001: Hmm, this is frustratingly confusing the way they've not really clarified anything. My best guess would be that the D3 team will be known as "Tormenta FC" and the PDL team will be called something like "Tormenta FC U23". I don't think we're gonna get much clarity on what's happening until we get closer (though I tried asking via Twitter; maybe we'll get lucky and they'll answer). For now, I think leaving the timeline as-is is probably the best choice, since it seems likely that they'll consider the D3 team their "main" team. --IagoQnsi (talk) 19:19, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Looks like they don't know either. But I still think it's most likely that the PDL team will sort of be a new secondary team, with the primary team moving from PDL to D3. --IagoQnsi (talk) 21:19, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stadium Notes[edit]

Both Tormenta and Chattanooga Red Wolves are working on soccer-specific stadiums, and both Lansing and USL Omaha play/will play in baseball parks. Can we add footnotes like for the MLS and USL Championship pages denoting whether stadiums are shared or soccer-specific or otherwise? —Lanway (talk) 21:11, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Penn FC[edit]

Until we have confirmation that Penn FC is indeed playing in 2020, can we move them back to the Future Teams section with Rochester? —Lanway (talk) 19:18, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rochester Rhinos[edit]

Why are the Rochester Rhinos missing from the future clubs list? SportsFan007 (talk) 09:16, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To IP editor: from a recent report "The plan is for the team to be rebranded and relocated at a different venue in Rochester in time for the start of the 2022 season, with discussions ongoing as to what league they will choose to enter."[1] With this much uncertainty, I think we should wait and see what the club decides. New Player articles standards[edit]

Figure this is a good place to put this since it probably has a lot of page watchers. For those unaware, there was a recent RfC which basically came to the conclusion that simply playing a pro match (in any league) is not enough for an article anymore. That is, articles which are basically sourced only to stats pages/game reports/etc are not enough and meeting WP:FPL is no longer a thing. They should meet GNG and have a couple references of significant coverage beyond routine mentions per Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)/Sports_notability#To_those_upset_with_sports_coverage_on_Wikipedia. There are a couple discussions in the recent archive at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football about it too. Basically an article would need more than citations to league match reports/soccerway/etc. Basically, it's okay to create an article after one appearance, but it just requires a higher quality of sourcing now to prove it meets notability guidelines.
