This page should be better organized, seperating the current company from its past history, so that it is delineated into several sections like many other Wikipedia articles are. Dsg123456789 05:01, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Disagree with speedy deletion

I see no reason for speedy deletion. The article could be fleshed out and reorganized, but, as far as I can tell, the information is accurate and US Steel is certainly historically important.

Where's the information on how many thousands of layoffs took place in the early 1980's? That's a pretty big deal that had an enormous negative impact on employment in Pittsburgh's history, yet no mention of it. If you're going to write about history, tell the whole truth, USS. It's the reason my family was split up and why Homestead suffered so much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.73.254 (talk) 11:19, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Needs a little more

This is my first time mentioning something on wikipedia, so I won't alter the article itself. I think that something should be added about US Steel's involvement in the coal industry. It was, at one time, one of the largest producers of high-sulfur coal in Southern West Virginia. It had horrible relations with its unions, and its departure has devastated WV's economy. There are towns (Gary, WV for example) that USS left without dismantling any plant equipment, so coal belts still rise above the roads rusting. Coal is an important part of USS's history, and I think it should be included in the article.

US Steel's size?

Why is that the article says that US Steel is 9th largest by volume, while the List of Steel Producers says its 7th? I work for US Steel, and US Steel itself thinks its 6th, becuase the number one and two largest merged just recently. Also, US Steel never left Gary. They still have a plant there.

Status as polluter

The main article calls US Steel the second largest corporate producer of air pollution in the United States, but the attached footnote leads nowhere. Googling revealed that the footnote probably once pointed to http://www.peri.umass.edu/Toxic-100-Table.265.0.html but it has for some reason been deleted from the footnotes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.211.202.107 (talk) 21:10, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Question River Rouge

I see that the steel making complex in Dearborn Michigan known as River Rouge is listed in the srticle as belonging to US Steel? Isn't that complex part of the Ford Motor Company? Perhaps, I've misread the article or am unaware of Rouge's history. Please help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.242.190 (talk) 05:52, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

The Rouge River Plant was owned by Ford and now by Severstal. But USS does own a facilty on Zug Island which is at the mouth of the Rouge River —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.240.127.200 (talk) 17:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

NNPOV?

Some of this article seems to read informally, and some of it seems a bit like company propaganda. Nothing major but I think the writing needs looking at. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.219.118.140 (talk) 04:52, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:CS4511.jpg

Image:CS4511.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
