Accuracy of History section disputed[edit]

The following text in the History section was flagged by User:Geniegirl as being in error:

"In the 1990's the school underwent extensive renovations and only a few of the original structures still stand. From the 1950s to the 1990s, the school was referred to as Traverse City Senior High. In 1997, a second high school opened in Traverse City, Traverse City West Senior High, and the original school was renamed "Central High". Since West Senior High opened, there has been a westward shift of students; in the 2004–2005 school year, there was an enrollment gap of 178 students, though that number is increasing at a slower rate than in the past."

This should be easy to verify - download the enrollment figures from MHSAA's website. One interesting tidbit about the westward shift: when West opened in '97, the district gave the current students living in the enrollment area of West the option of transferring to the new school. All but a handful of starters on the football team lived on the west side of town, and almost all those eligible transferred. Central was left with the scraps, and northern Michigan Class A football ceased to be Traverse City and the five dwarfs.SpanishCastleMagic (talk) 13:38, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This school was always named central high(only in official documents was the name found)the locals always referred to the central high school as "high school" even when it was in the central neighbor hood. IE it was never "renamed" Class of '78 Kingelf59 (talk) 07:24, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The buildings on Milliken Drive were built sometime before 1964 when I started attending that location. That facility was NOT always named "Central High" at least when I was a student in the 60's. It was called "Traverse City Senior High School" (grades 10-12) to distinguish it from the "Junior High School" (grades 7-9) that was in the center of town. A poosible citation for this is the 1967 Yearbook "1967 Pines" that I am looking at right now. That was what everyone used in their college admissions paperwork as well.

Here's a link to a picture of an early "Central School" apparently a name used for an elementary school. It is possibly the source for the erroneous dating of "Central High School" which is currently listed as having been built at Milliken Drive in 1884. That is ridiculous.
