Is it a musical?[edit]

I read a review that stated that this was like a WWII musical.

The film does have a soundtrack, but the few times where it is the dominant part, it's more like music videos, superbly edited and paced in the visuals cut to the music, but not obtrusive to the actual plot, in a way that's a lot like Yahoo Serious's Young Einstein (1988) in that respect (although I'm aware that film's low-brow humor mostly fared pretty badly outside of Australia and Germany). But the actual reason why some American reviewers compared Train of Life to a musical is not so much its music but rather its surrealistic, grotesque, and lunatic tone and mood, which is a mood that obviously reminds Americans of musicals, whereas it makes Europeans (like me and many European reviewers of the film) think more of a humorous fable or fairy tale.
I suppose the one encompassing denominator for both the European and the American sentiment would be categorizing Train of Life as belonging to the fantasy genre, not only because the film's events eventually turn out as Shlomo's fantasies obviously, but even moreso because of the film's aforementioned mood and tone, albeit I'd hesitate actually writing 'fantasy' as the official genre in the lead. --2.240.151.205 (talk) 01:01, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack[edit]

Does anyone know of any info about the soundtrack?

As far as I'm aware, the music is by the wonderful Goran Bregovic.

Comedy?[edit]

Although it reminds of "life is beautiful" al lot, "train of life" has a very different ending, which makes it definitely not really a comedy...it's only on the surface. Can someone fix that? My English is not that good...

It is comedy and very funny for about 90% of the movie. Life is beautiful also has unhappy ending. BTW - Your english seems quite ok for me :) Jakilcz

Train's destination?[edit]

As I recall, they're trying to take the train to Russia, not Palestine, although Palestine might have been their ultimate destination. I don't have a copy of the film on hand to check, but I'm almost sure of it - you can't get to Palestine from France by train anyhow. -Father Inire 23:22, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Their plan was to travel to Palestine via a route into Russian.— al-Shimoni (talk) 05:38, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

French? German and Yiddish in a German accent![edit]

It's supposed to laugh at the two accents. No?

Is it actually in French? פשוט pashute ♫ (talk) 14:09, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
