Clarify that top and bottom here have nothing(?) to do with the Missionary etc. sex positions. Jidanni (talk) 02:26, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a lot of overlap between this page and Top, bottom and versatile. It seems to me that it would be less confusing for the reader if this article was merged into the other one as a new section, possibly with a paragraph in the intro. Any thoughts? • I don't see why not. Enlightenedstranger0 (talk) 23:09, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree - This page discusses the roles of top, bottom and switch in a BDSM way, whereas when referring to gay men, top, bottom and versatile refer to the penetrative or receptive position, not the state of mind/roleplay suggested in this article. They are distinct. Adscool09 (talk) 06:06, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Adscool09: There is already a Dominance and submission article for the power dynamic and a Top, bottom, versatile article for the penetrative/receptive positions. In the dominance and submission section of this article, the penetrative/receptive definitions are used, while in other places in the article the power dynamic definition is used. These terms are already described in the Terminology section of the D/s article in multiple parts. This article is just not needed and makes things more confusing for the reader. ~BappleBusiness[talk] 01:07, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree. I think Adscool09 already explained the difference. --Aluswordknight (talk) 04:00, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree but I would suggest that the subject "Top, bottom and versatile" be extended to "Top, bottom and versatile (sexual positions)". -RoyGoldsmith (talk) 16:25, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
